Still can't answer your question on tax payments.
I have also heard that if you have more than one US credit card, you can get the 10K on each card with a 25K total usage.

Thank, quite interesting. When I signed up for Juniper not long ago, I got 15K miles for enrolling. Now, I see one can get "up to 25K." I am not clear what brings one the full 25K, but I suppose I will call to find out and to see whether/how I can get the 10K of DM I missed out on.
Also, I see that usair.com has info about both cards, whereas before they only took you to the BofA card. (IIRC from what I read in the papers at the time, Juniper, an affiliate of Barclays, got into the deal through AmericaWest and BofA was none too please about sharing the business with this competitor which was out to undercut it with a better deal for customers, since it had had lock previously.) I guess US must have come to some agreement with the banks whereby they would "share" equal billing with somewhat different product offerings. (How does BofA compete with its Visa side-by-side with Juniper's MC, when the latter charges no annual fee for two years and the former demands $90 per year, and they are unequal in terms of mileage accrual too? I should think it is decidedly unhelpful to BofA to have the two cards compared side-by-side in that table on the US website.)
The tax payment deal made it possible for me to run big charges on my other cards. While not so focused on US status as UA status, if could make tax payments with these UA cards like with UA ones, earning double miles and able to get the 10K of PM on each, I might consider doing it.
Again, thanks for answering my questions. I believe what is on the US website regarding card options is different than what was there only a few weeks ago.
