If you call UA to modify anything in the booking before your first leg, UA will charge you $10 since you didn't book with them. If/what orbitz charges for the same thing, I am not sure.
My experience has been that UA customer service won't even talk to me on a non-UA booked reservation. They say any changes have to go through the original travel agent.
