Strange Happenings on DL flight from LAX to MEX....

I normally wouldn’t comment on anomalies on a particular flight but this one was waaaay too much to swallow!! I flew down to Mexico City yesterday on DL codeshare flight 8035, operated by AeroMexico, from LAX. As soon as we entered Mexican airspace…less than10 minutes….the cockpit door flew open and stayed open for the entire three hours. At some times, the entire FA staff were in the cockpit BS’ing and joking with the pilots. On occasion, their laughing almost drowned out the engine noise.
OK, I guess I could handle that…didn’t thrill me but what can you do… but what REALLY bummed me out was that the pilot’s proceeded to tape air maps inside the windshield to, I guess, block out the sunlight. Once we reached cruise altitude, every square inch of the windshield was blocked by maps and it stayed thus until we started our descent into MEX. Granted, there is not much to gaze at when you are at 35M altitude and on autopilot but I have NEVER seen this occur in my 40+ years of flying.
Even in these days of heightened cockpit security, I can see in the cockpit when the pilots dash out to hit the head. I have never seen the windshield covered in any manner.
Doubt that I’ll lodge a formal complaint to DL….we did get to MEX in one piece afterall…. but it was unsettling at best. Has anyone else seen anything similar in their recent flight experiences??
