One company I worked for in the past required co-workers below director level to share rooms... even though I was friends with many co-workers, I still disliked the idea - it meant you had to "be on" 24/7 - no place to just let your hair down and be yourself. Once I moved into upper management, I have made sure that the companies I work for do not have this as a policy for anyone...
