This hotel is now in the Amex Centurion FHR portfolio...they will give you the upgrade if it's available when you book. I think Amex Platinum will upgrade you if there is space available when you check in.
FWIW, I stayed at this hotel in December for $199/night and I thought even THAT was too much. The service has gone downhill since it left FS. Stay at the Marriott and spend the difference at Fashion Island!
