Phones that can be used around the world are usually much more expensive then just the ones for local use.

Yes, each SIM card comes with it's own phone number. If you run out of time on one SIM card you're using, you buy a top-up card and add credit to the existing SIM. You can also just go get another SIM with a new phone number and new credit, but that usually more often than not would cost more.

FYI.. in Malaysia I use Maxis SIM cards, multiple denominatons, good voice rates (can't remember), but horrendous data rates (I have an IPAQ and was download mail), got about 100k for $10 CAD
