Part of the issue with original BPs is that because airlines have multiple partners, there have been many cases of attempted (and successful) double-dipping... And the airlines being charged for the miles are tired of it... If you must send the original BPs in the mail, you might want to get a return receipt or some other way of proving you sent them...
