The FAs may have allowed you to use a "sling" during the "must hold your infant without the use of any unapproved restraint devices" period of flight, but that doesn't mean the OP is gonna be allowed to use the "Baby B'Air" device. AFAIK, that device is still not approved by the FAA; all it takes is an FA to notice it and they'll tell the OP that it may not be used.

The Baby B'Air vest may indeed be the greatest thing to come down the pike, but the rules say that it can't be used during taxi, takeoff, landing or seat-belt illuminated periods. Why buy one or bring it along (if it's already owned) if the FAA says you can't use it except for periods when the seat belt sign is off?
