I flew CDG - YUL yesteday and was upgraded (I am E), without coupon. BUT at check-in the in-charge told me it would be diffucult as the flight was overbooked in Y and 39 seats reserved out of 42 in J, with many passengers with UG coupons.

So... went to the MLL and at the gate our BP got rejected (both E) as we had been upgraded. We had checked-in the night before on AC.com which I guess helped.

Somewhere on this site I read about UG Sequence and thought if it's going to be tight, better check-in a.s.a.p. It worked, thanks to flyertalk.
