The current "relationship" between Israel and the USA began only in 1969, after the French embargo on weapon sales to Israel.

By the way, how can you leave all business aspects aside, bring up all the political issues of relations between USA, Europe and Israel and still "have no intention of turning this into a political discussion" ?
