So - pack an extra pair of thick cotton socks (or slippers, but I would think that socks would take up less space in your totebag) and use them on the plane, changing back to shoes (and regular socks) on arrival.
You must be joking.

First you condemn kids as "sticky" and "grubby" and wearing "less than perfectly clean socks" - then you suggest parents pack a pristine pair of socks for the child to wear only while flying. Considering the state of many aircraft these days, that's a good way to ruin a new pair of socks.

Kids on the playground may be stickier than adults, but based on what I've seen (and smelled), the kids on planes are usually cleaner and fresher than the adults around them. No, I'm not talking diapers, but rather hands, faces and feet. Why do so many people look and smell as if they came straight from the gym to their seat?
