I did price LHR-FRA-MAD and it was double the cost. Few deals to be found with main line European carriers and obviously fewer points to be earned. There is a serious trend in Europe and like bird flu it will spread to NA soon!
In terms of mileage earning in the EU, LO is the best.
But yeah, unfortunately, it's the race to the bottom.
