I have a question on if something is allowed.

I needed to get a ticket to Hawaii on exact dates (already have 2 tickets on certain flights, and need one for a 3rd person).

There was no sky saver on the flights, first or coach class.

I put a hold on a coach sky choice on those flights, and the agent suggested that I waitlist for first class and if it clears they will just take the extra 5000 miles (70,000 for coach skychoice, and 75k for 1st saver). Suggested I wait 2 days to see if anything opened up. I thought that was a good idea.

One of the 4 legs was available in skysaver 1st. But, when I went to ticket, it would not let me, saying I needed 150k miles. And what I wanted to do was not allowed. the second agent said that the first agent was wrong, and that is not allowed.

Has anyone done this? Should I try again with a different agent?
