Novell used to require room sharing at tradeshows
don't know if they still do or not, I left 10 years ago. The only reason I found it halfway tolerable was that my college roommate also worked there and attended the same shows, so I was used to sharing a room with him.
What made it most irritating was that not only did the senior execs not share rooms, but the VERY junior MarCom folks who organized tradeshows also managed to get single rooms, often suites, since they were the ones doing the room allocations and dealing with the hotels.
I believe the policy stopped after Novell acquired Word Perfect and the WP folks threw a major fit, but I quit shortly after that so I'm not sure.
Novell also briefly had a charming policy of "same pay for the same job", whether you worked in Provo Utah or Silicon Valley. Needless to say, the difference in cost of living meant that the policy didn't last very long.
