GF and I are planning our first trip to Italy for the second week in October, JFK-FCO, returning FLR-JFK. So far, the absolute rock-bottom price I'm able to find is $750-ish, and about $100 more for *A flights on LH (need UA miles, so that's a major consideration). Is this about right for that time of year, or can I expect that prices will fall toward the end of the summer? My gut tells me (a) this is still tourist season, (b) high fuel costs will keep surcharges around, and, therefore, (c) this is about as good as I'm going to get it. If anyone has experience flying to Italy in October, I'd very much appreciate your words of wisdom...pull the trigger now or wait. Thanks!
