Just a quick note on the Covina CA Embassy Suites.

I stayed there last week and the hotel is quite nice but it seems it hasn't been renovated in a while. Some of the rooms are on the side of the hotel that faces the highway, I was put in one of these rooms, besides the highway noise the refrigerator made noise and the AC fan was loud when it went on and off.
Needless to say my first night was sleepless, I asked the next morning to be moved away from the highway and the front desk was more then happy to accommodate me. The new room was great, clean, quiet and comfortable.

I went to check out the next day and they asked me how my stay was. My response was simply that last night was great, the first night wasn't good. She said "would you recommend the hotel to someone else?" I said honestly, no I would not they might get a room like I did the first night and I couldn't endorse that. She said sorry for the problem and checked me out, she gave me my receipt and she removed the first night charges without me asking for anything.

I have to say I have done about 300 nights at Marriott in the past few years (still Marriott Gold) and made much bigger complaints and was NEVER offered a free night.

And a tip: At the Covina Embassy Suites as you walk the front door ask for a room to your right hand (on the restaurant side), they are the non highway side and much quieter.
