On a NW flight I was on last year in F SFO-HNL, my audio wasn't working and I missed out on watching some dumb movie that I had seen before. Still, I was running late and forgot a book or something else to read. So, I told the lead FA who basically said that he'd write up a report. After writing to NW, they gave me 7,500 bonus miles as a compensation for the inoperable audio. With NW, I do believe that elite status does have pull in the # of compensatory miles you receive.
