Everyone has their own experiences, but I have found relative ease in redeeming NW miles, especially with all of the partner options. Do I always get my #1 choice... no. But I know flexibility is the key.

Some people think that it's a simple as calling NW and asking for 2 seats to London in July. Those are the people who tend to be irritated at the process.

For those of us know who know how to play the game and work the system, the rewards can be great.
