Passport control can be fun

I love talking to the Passport Control folks... sometimes they actually can be very witty and will say surprising things.

Arriving at Gatwick a few years ago a gentleman at PC asked me what flight I was arriving on, and I replied "Continental from Houston." He said, "Perhaps I shall go there for my holidays, are all the ladies as nice as you?" Cheeky monkey!

Another time at Gatwick, the PC asked me why I was entering the UK. I said to visit family and that my husband was alreay there and I was joining him. He asked if my husband was British, I said yes; he asked point blank "Do you intend on staying on and living in the UK?" I said no. He said "Why not?" Taken somewhat aback, I replied "To be honest, it's just too expensive. We can't have the same standard of living in the UK as we have in the US." His reply? "Yeah, isn't it the truth? I wish I could immigrate." He stamped my passport and I was on my way...
