Question #1 - How many will return to DL and start booking flights, if they "wake up and smell the roses", and rescind the major cutbacks that have become deal-breaker issues for us?
My deal-breaker is the unlimited (at time-of-booking) upgrades. If I've got to sit in coach, it's going to be on the most covenient and most comfortable flight I can find within budget. If DL will restore the upgrades soon, I likely won't shop around for a post-2003 carrier.
Question #2 - How long are you willing to wait before switching to another airline as your primary carrier?
Couldn't wait any longer. Tomorrow (1/8) my normal itinerary would've been SAT/MSY leaving at 5:55 am, return at 10:16 (1.5 hour drive on each end from AUS makes for a LONG day). Instead, WN gets the business ($389 for the WN tix vs. $315 DL K fare upgraded the whole way!). Guess I've decided that the added inconvenience isn't worth it anymore.
WN won't be my primary carrier (still deciding on AA/CO), but will likely get much of my short-haul business in TX and neighboring states. That's $3-400 at a shot that would almost always go to DL ( probably once a month, maybe as many as 3 times ).
Question #3 = How many of us no longer trust DL to be a viable choice of carrier even if they rescind the program changes?
If DL doesn't rescind the changes, I'll go for convenience/comfort. The added convenience is worth an extra $100/$150 (same as the K+ fare was pre-2003). If they rescind, I'll continue my 20+ year loyalty (it's a two-way street, though).
