Besides the adapter that's sold on the Dell accessories website is there any way I can just buy a cable that can be plugged into my current adapter? My current adapter is the OEM Dell model and you can remove the cable with the wall plug from the adapter. I figure it would be cheaper to buy just a cable with an Empower plug.
No, as the adapter requires 110v to function. It does not accept the 12v (IIRC) output by EmPower or AA sockets. You still must either have an inverter or an auto/air adapter.
