I hope this isn't too far off, but I know that the City of West Hollywood, California, is very "gay-friendly", and 3 of the 5 councilmembers are gay men... and the City had a policy that Councilmembers of the same gender could share a room, if they both agreed... but because 3 of 5 were gay, it got the opposite effect... Presumably, these "same gender" rules would try to make sure there was no "hanky-panky" going on... but when two gay people of the same gender were involved, the policy actually ENCOURAGED "hanky-panky".
Seems to me, and not that I have any strong opinions on any subject, but companies, as well as municipalities should have a policy that if two consenting ADULTS, regardless of gender and/or sexual orientation, should be able to share a room, if they wanted to save costs for their employer.
Personally, I would rather stay at a much cheaper out-of-the-way motel, than share a room with anyone other than my "special someone". And because I am both my own company, and my own "special creation", I don't have to share a room with anyone...
