Many elderly people can walk a few steps on their own, but going the length of a long concourse in a large airport is way too much. They are often delivered to the airport by relatives who can't transport a wheelchair, or perhaps they arrive by cab. Airport wheelchairs are very helpful to such people.
My father-in-law flew to visit us and also to visit his other daughter last spring before succumbing to cancer in August. The airport wheelchairs were a godsend. He didn't need to fly up here with a chair, but it was certainly handy to have one available at the airport.
This disabilities option is yet another great improvement of an already excellent web page. It's a delight to see the airline add helpful bells and whistles to their site.
