You most certainly can. But AFAIK that bus southbound to the airport along Sepulveda is the Century City bus system bus I was referring, not on the same system as the L A city bus you took down Olympic. Hence the possible problems "transferring" (but no problem if you pay separately).
If there is indeed a Big Blue Bus going that far along Olympic (the Big Blue Bus going down Santa Monica Blvd turns onto Westwood, and so it's somewhat of a walk to that one from even the SMB side of Century City), then that might be the better option, since it would connect to the airport Big Blue Bus in downtown Santa Monica, all for one 75 cent ride. (Btw, that 75 cents on the Big Blue Bus is WAY CHEAPER than the fares on L A city buses, which are well over $1 for even the shortest ride. Tho of course if you're comparing to a taxi or a shuttle ANY bus ride is very cheap!)
