The BEST airport security I ever saw...

Passengers went through two hours of security inside the terminal, opening AND COMPLETELY UNPACKING every single suitcase and carryon, then boarded busses to a remote part of the airport, everybody got out, all of the luggage was already out on the tarmac, and everyone had to identify their luggage, just at the instant it and you board the plane... (Calcutta, India)... (best security I ever saw anywhere... far better than even Israel).

All this nonsense in the U.S., asking "did you pack your own suitcase" is just a waste of time... there is NO substitute for opening and unpacking EVERY single suitcase, opening and unpacking EVERY SINGLE carryon bag... in addition to X-rays, and the usual silly questions. Calcutta, yes CALCUTTA did a fine job.

And the WORST security is any U.S. airport... Why on earth do they go to all this trouble to x-ray us, when INSIDE the terminal, that is AFTER "security", there are dozens of stores and restaurants, where I have seen sharp steak knives, box cutters sitting on unopened boxes in the book store, scissors behind the cash register, and on and on. That is all AFTER "security". What a joke. And you can imagine in the many restaurants, they surely must have large knives in the kitchen... What a waste of our tax dollars for this show of fake security.

It reminds me of when I bought some sharp knives in a Caribbean cruise port, and when I tried to enter the boat, they x-rayed my items, and took the knives away from me, (I picked them up off the ship at the end of the cruise)... but ON THE SHIP, in the GIFT SHOP, they were selling almost identical knives, with no waiting. Puh-leese.
