I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade two coach class Continental tickets using Delta Skymiles.

Unfortunately I bought two first class non refundable tickets and had to cancel (out of my control). I now plan to use these cancelled tickets to buy two international coach tickets on Continental and would like to upgrade to first/business using Delta points. Is it also possible to purchase a code share flight on DL with the CO funds and then upgrade on the DL metal using points? This seems to be a very sticky situation.

Does anyone know what the possibilities are?
