if you read all the threads since 2-3 years here on FT you will see that this is exactly what people did , and it worked.
as amex is trying to get the centurion more exclusive, i doubt it will work anymore. and the chance that you cancel your card , common they can let you cancel and after that sent you the invitation. but do you have the guts to cancel it
