Except that your factoid is not factual.

The was no declaration of war by either side, and Argentina was not a democracy at the time but was run by a military junta headed by General Leopoldo Galtieri.

Galtieri ordered the Falklands invaded to avert attention from domestic problems. The UK responded by kicking their butts back where they belonged. ^
