American Airlines was responsible for DFW's vast indebtedness... virtually all of which is associated with projects of vast benefit to AA and zero benefit to any other airlines. AA is the party primarily responsible for repayment.
SPIN ALERT - only one of the last three major projects directly benefits AA, the people mover. The runway extensions will benefit ALL users. The international terminal is nice and swanky, but AA had plenty of room for it's existing operations in the facilities that it had in use. Plus had to add personnel and shift resources to serve 4 terminals from its previous 3 terminals.
