Not so - the company gets the option. Ours makes us get billed etc. in the same way as a normal charge card, but the company also get a copy of the bill for stats etc.
It's integrated with expenses only in that Amex also send us a file which can be directly uploaded to our expense claim software.
I don't use the card though - I'm much happier using my BA Amex
