Nope, at Towne Place, you will earn 5 Marriott Rewards points per US dollar spent on room rate only, just like the Residence Inns. I'm guessing it's because they are both "Extended Stay" hotels.

I have stayed at a Towne Place twice. What I found is that it's similar to RI, but cheaper, with less amenities. What I remember are somewhat spartan rooms, reduced maid service, very minimal breakfast (coffee and some packaged snacks), and no happy hour.

The rooms were clean and I would stay at one again if I had to, but I much prefer the Residence Inns.
