I once was lectured by a 50-something businessperson type (in C on SIN-NRT, during the pre-departure beverage) about how premium cabins just "aren't what they used to be" because people do not dress up. (Me, a 24 year old at the time, sporting khaki shorts, sandals, and a short-sleeve polo shirt.)

Then he went on to flaunt how he's a 1K and that he flies all over the world. So I whipped out my boarding pass...lo and behold, it says 1K too. Yes, me -- that degenerate in the shorts -- he could hardly believe it!

So then he started talking about how my generation doesn't respect their elders, has a poor work ethic, etc. -- and within those digs, he would say something like, "and you probably do this too" or "I know you can relate to this"...

There was other crap thrown in there...so I finally lost my cool and said, "Sir, you'd really be doing me a huge favor by not conversing for the rest of the flight, I have a lot of work to do."

Then he takes a tangent..."see, you don't respect elders." Blah blah blah.

After that soapbox, I had to pull out the a-bomb from my arsenal -- "With all due respect, please shut the f*ck up." On went my Bose NCs and we never spoke again.
