yelled at a mother who couldn't control her kids. no this is not a "kids don't belong in f/c rant" but seriously, these kids were uncontrollable and mom was either asleep or too busy watching the ife to be bothered.

a/c=ua 777 3 cabin iad-den
me-middle section of main c-cabin aisle seat
her +2 kids-row right behind me. n.b.-she and her kids were the last to board and she made the comment of "oh great, the last row" (me-note to self: "c is c" so what's the big deal)

kids began to bounce on their seats from the moment they boarded ("it's just like our horse at home" ). f/a's very (and i do mean very) politely asked mom to please have the kids "stay seated" as we were getting ready to push-back. mom didn't say a word but the kids stopped bouncing.

kids "broke free" during the climb out began to run up and down the aisles and had to be escorted back to their seats by 2 f/a's. f/a's reminded mom about the seat belt sign and that it is on for safety. mom said "i'll handle it".

breakfast served and i go to sleep shortly afterwards but am rudely awakened as the 2 kids think the seat backs are junlge-jims (i thought the guy next to me would open the door and either toss the kids out or jump himself-he was b/s). call buttons are going off "all over c" and what $ucked is that it was that very very deep sleep

f/a (now using a slightly sterner tone tells mom, that she must keep her kids from disturbing the other pax. mom says "whatever" and i thought the f/a would hit the roof but she was tres cool (tho she did "pick up the phone to make a call")

fell back to sleep but it happened again-the kids woke me up as before. this time, i lost it and got up out of my seat and told mom in a very angry (but non-yelling voice) to keep her children quiet as they have now woken me up twice and that "it will not happen again".

mom looked at me and was about to say something and i cut her off with "don't-your children will be quiet for the rest of the flight-this is an airplane not a playground so your children WILL be quiet-end of story" (scary part is i could hear in the back of my mind, my dad scolding me when i was younger-same tone of voice)

well, it worked for the remainder of the flight as the kids sat in their seats and didn't move or say a word. now the best parts were as with about 30 minutes or so before landing, the purser came thru the the c-cabin and went to every pax except mom and apologized for the what happened (in a voice "just loud enough for mom to hear") and gave everyone a $50 voucher ('cept me-i got $200). the other part is that as we were leaving the aircraft, the captain was at the door talking to mom and explaining to her that we were a hair away from diverting and having her and her children removed from the a/c becuase of their disruptive actions. now in a way, i would have kinda liked to see that ........
