I could tell that the man at the window seat just wanted to be left alone and not have to talk to anyone on the long cross county flight.
The talker did not pick up any non verbal cues. He was ignored, stared at and then finally told to shut up. It did not work, the talker just kept up the chatter. Finally the man at the window seat just exploded and started to yell and scream. The flight attendant came by to try to defuse the situation and the talker said that the window seat man was crazy and needed to be arrested. The Flight Attendant told the Quiet Man to calm down and left. The flight was full and had already been left the gate so there was nothing that could be done.
The talker kept up the chatter for the rest of the flght ignoring the stares, appeals and stoney silence. Another Flight Attendant tried to get the man to shut up but was only ignored. The man at the window seat seemed like he was going nuts.
What would you do in this situation other than physically assaulting the talker?
I would continually ask for hot coffee and spill it on the guy!
