I agree. Shanghai is boooring. Washington, DC, my current hometown is boring too. As a tourist, Tokyo is a bit boring, especially if the weather is bad.

My underrated gems: New Delhi, Dunedin & Nelson, NZ, Portland, Missoula, Beijing (heard nothing but bad things, really liked it), Chengdu (spectacular food).
