With the promo, then, it would "cost" $1300 for a RT economy ticket JFK-NRT. Or, as we upgraded in January between JFK/NRT from deep discount economy - 50,000 miles to upgrade RT, + $500 = $1500. The deep discount tickets we bought were $1500, so that would yield a biz class ticket for $3000 RT. The usual biz class ticket is $6000+ though I have seen an occasional last minute sale that makes it $3000. So I guess it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other.
