Actually, most other business class fares, if bought directly from the airline, might be more like $3,000+, so the Garuda fares for around $1,075 are quite good, and you do get the Northwest credit. Also, you can make other additional stopovers inside Indonesia, (Yogyacarta, Surabaya, etc.), at no extra charge, except the small taxes. Their timings aren't always that great... lots of mis-connects, sometimes by just a few minutes of the minimum connecting times, requiring staying overnight in Jakarta or Bali, or even Singapore, on the way to Bangkok. But I think it's fair to deduct from the price the value of the Northwest Worldperks miles you get, 150% of about 16,000 miles = about 24,000 Northwest miles, which are probably worth around $300 - $500.

But the whole time, I'm weighing the value/price of this ticket against a straight nonstop roundtrip Bangkok/Sydney/Bangkok, which is about $750 in ECONOMY, on Emirates.

And the crazy thing about this trip is that I'm actually on my way to TAHITI, from Bangkok where I live, so I have to go via Australia, (Japan flights to Tahiti are too infrequent for me)...
