I once received a Club Floor upgrade the London Inter-Continental at Hyde Park Corner but it was divorced from Club Floor benefits. Upon arguing with the hotel, the hotel finally relented and granted me full benefits.
I now e-mail the hotel in question in advance and specifically enquire as to which room would I receive as an AMB member if I were to book "x" room and take the print out of the e-mail with me should there be any problems. If I do not like their interpretation of "upgrade" I simply move my business elsewhere.
