The snow on the Vermont mountains is disappearing quickly, especially with warm weather forecasted this week. That said, the I-89 border crossing can be long at times. If you were a US citizen, other border crossings to the east are much quicker, provided you have good maps and don't mind the extra scenery. It may be more complicated without a US/Canada passport.

Flying into BTV works pretty well. Rental car prices there, however, can be steep.
