FYI for everyone - WindFlyer is absolutely correct. We are able to use the NYC to BKK/SIN non-stops on the way to CMB. I finally got hold of a knowledgable agent (you can always tell in the first 5 seconds) and since CMB is a South Asia award destination this is not a problem. However, if we wanted to go on to the Maldives, it would not be allowed.
