The preferred seats are the first X number of rows of coach, plus selected exit seats. On some planes, like 757s, all exit row seats are usually orange. On MD88s, row 25 is preferred and 24 is not. I'm not sure how the all different 767 configurations work out, but I do know that rows 25-27 (including the coveted 27A&G) on the domestic -300s are preferred.
