I am on a RTW trip and have had several times where I needed to get in contact with AA but couldn't because (1) the country office was closed, and (2) there is no way to call US 800 number from most third world countries. I was even in Australia when Cyclone Larry hit. Qantas had canceled my flight and told me only AA could rebook the ticket, but the AA office in Australia was closed for the weekend. It was ridiculous. On a few occasions I have used online services like Skype to call AA, but this option is rarely available to me. I have begged the AA staff in the US to give me a non-800 number, but they say there is no such thing. Right now I am in Vietnam but because it is Sunday the AA office is closed. Anyone have any advice on contacting AA's US reservations team when traveling abroad?
