Coat hanging with OLCI?
Almost all my flights are international itineraries, so OCLI is not possible. I've never had a jacket when I've checked in on-line, and I've never had a thermal BP from an ECI machine.
The card stock BPs have a nice perforation to allow the FAs (or me as I pass the closet) to easily push the BP stub over the coathanger and thus identify the owner of said coat/jacket.
The thermal paper, and my home printer paper do not have these perforations. This is a step backwards ergonomically which hasn't been adequately thought through by UA.
In an effort to help UA, I have analysed the problems and am providing some potential solutions for their consideration.
a) Some form of cutting object (within TSA guidelines of course) to slice the BP
b) Prelabeled coat hangers with the seat number (although I can see that they be lost / go missing etc and would be a problem
c) Little numbers a la shop size things that go on hangers with the seat numbers
d) Sticky tape
e) Come through the cabin on descent asking "Who's is this".
f) Request pax to pick up their jacket from the closet on the way out.
Feel free to help UA further by either choosing your suggested method, or by suggesting better alternatives to this oversight.
