I don't understand why you wouldn't be guaranteed anything without a prepaid rate. If this were the case, then in theory, every hotel stay that is booked but not prepaid could have random rate changes anytime - but that doesn't happen.
I believe that a reservation should certainly be guaranteed at the rate you reserved it for...unless the agent/company who booked your reservation screwed up somehow and offered the hotel at the wrong rate and a whole bunch of people...and so on...a la travelocity and hotels in Japan. This is the basis of the reason I believe Travelocity should honor the rates we booked.
I think Travelocity may know this...as my reservation is still there, and I've had no response to my e-mails to the mysterious Simsit or
[email protected]. It's well beyond the 24 hours they promised to respond in.
