Northwest is having a promotion. Register for the promotion, take a Northwest flight and then use eligible partners for upto 5000 bonus miles which also count towards status. The cap on the miles is 5000 combined for all partners. This can provide some good mileage opportunities for example - 30 miles per dollar on dining, 450 miles per day on some Alamo rentals, 3000 miles on a Hilton stay (in addition to Hilton points) using the Hilton double miles promotion, 9 miles per dollar on Marriott stays, 3 miles per dollar on grocery (plus 1 or 2 miles per dollar with credit card).
