Here comes the "what's the difference between nesting and end-to-end?"...
Some NW fairs specificaly point out (in specific wording) that end-to-end are acceptable, and specifically point out that back-to-back are not acceptable. And you can even use the departure city of the outside itin as a layover for the inside itin (NW and MR forums have suffered through my analysis of that one).
