Most likely a problem with DNS server(s). Either his local or something on larger scale. I get to see this from time to time, especially during DoS attacks against those server.
Thanks for posting me this, I was about ready to. I'm really suprised they didn't buy more time, unless they have an auto-renew contract. At least they have a lock on the account. There's so many things I'm suprised at... single IP for the domain name, localize DNS resolution...
I'm seeing lots of delays for both forward and reverse DNS resolution. Figure it's either DNS back-end issues, or DDOS.
