SIN-BKK-LAX Seating and Other Stuff (Y-Class)

Hi all,

I realised that Seatguru.com doesn't have a section for TG and there's no sticky for suggested seats for various aircraft similar to the one in the UA forum. So, I'm hoping that I can get some suggestions and/or opinions here since I've never flown TG before.

I'll be flying SIN-BKK-LAX-BKK-SIN in June and currently have 31F assigned for the A300-600 aircraft and 44D assigned for the A340-500 aircraft. Are these seats the best I can get or should I request for something else. I'm travelling alone if that matters in any way.

On a side note, does anyone know how much they are charging for a standby upgrade to Premium Economy for the BKK-LAX-BKK legs?

Also, are there any reasons to fly SQ's Executive Economy instead of TG's Economy other than saving time? I've flown SQ's EE a few times now and absolute loved it, but I read that TG's Economy is just as good so I was thinking of giving it a try.

Thanks in advance.
