Finally, a WiFi VoIP phone that gets it ALL right.

I just got the Linksys WIP330 yesterday and am absolutely BLOWN AWAY by this device. It's, finally, usable anywhere in the world where you can get WiFI access. It's Windows CE based and has Internet Explorer so you can browse the web with it if you wished.

Why's this a huge deal? Because FINALLY you can log into hotspots, input credit cards, etc FROM THE PHONE! It even has presets for Hinet and T-Mobile WiFi and works so very well. It handles disparate wireless networks very very well and will autosearch if it doesn't find it's designated network. It also automatically turns encryption on and off as needed although it will prompt for a key. Call setup is BLAZINGLY fast and while the audio quality lags a bit behind the HitachiCable HCW-5000 the WiFi performance and range blows it away. This is also firmware rev 1.00 so I'm AMAZED it's this good out of the box.

I managed to purchase and get logged onto broadband here at the Westin Galleria Dallas entirely from the phone (connected to a WiFi travel router, of course). Tomorrow I plan to try it out on a T-mo hotspot. Hopefully it works as advertised and autologs itself in. What a GREAT way to stay in touch in some VERY far flung places. I plan to carry mine no matter where I go. I'll NEVER get soaked for roaming again.
