I was there in the mid- 80's...and the Caravanserai hotel is located right on the SKIRT of the runway approach. Like, the airport security fence runs along the hotel's driveway. The DC 10 we saw looked like it was going to land in the lobby...no kidding. It comes in over the water, over Caravanserai's beach, screaming over the sunbathers, across the lobby, finally touching down maybe 50 yards from the hotel's driveway. That's better than the Queen Juliana restaurant upstairs at the airport (which I recall had pretty decent food!).
